Having a website is essential to market your business, but how do you track the results and money-flow driven by your website? As any business owner, especially one in the pet industry, there are many things that can separate you from your competition, and having a modern and optimized website is one of them. Google Analytics and Google Search Console are great tools for any business owner that has a website, and wants to track and analyze their results driven by traffic on their website and search engines.
Why is Google Analytics Important?
Google Analytics is an important digital marketing tool, yet it is so underused by small business owners. Google Analytics allows you to track and measure results driven by your website and individual campaigns. You can even compare the results to previous months and/or campaigns. Google Analytics can help track and measure conversions and customer engagement; ie: pages and session views, session duration and bounce rate. When you implement this digital marketing tool, you’ll be able to truly understand your customers and track metrics and goals that matter to your business.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console (very similar, but not to be confused with Google Analytics) helps track, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot your website’s presence in Google Search results. Google Search Console confirms that Google can actually find your website, crawl it, view Google Search traffic (such as which queries and keywords show your website), determine how often searchers click through those queries, and even show you other websites that link back to yours.
But what’s the difference between Google Analytics and Google Search Console? Google Search Console tracks and gives you data based on the search queries and keywords in which your website appeared, and Google Analytics tracks your website consumer traffic. To put it in short Google Search Console gives you insights on how search engines interact with your website, and Google Analytics provides you with insights on how consumers interact with your website.
