How do I collect tips without an integrated payment processor?
If you do not use one of ProPet’s integrated payment processors, you can still accept tips using custom adjustments!
First, you will need to create a custom adjustment “Tip” either as one whole category, or you can create a category PER staff member for staff-specific tips:
- Settings
- Pricing
- Custom Charge Catagories
- Add Custom Charge Categories
- Add the Custom Charge Category name: ex Tip – Groomer, Tip – Trainer
- Include in revenue reports > No
- Save
You can rearrange your custom charge categories and group all your Tip categories together (if applicable) to make the selection process easier. Click and hold the grey arrow beside the category name and drag and drop it into the correct order.
Secondly, you will need to add the “Tip” as a custom adjustment to the invoice.
- Open the Reservation Confirmation Page, either by searching for it or by clicking “Checking Out & Go To Details”
- Add Custom Adjustment
- Add a description and the total tip amount
- Select the appropriate tip category
- Add you initials
- Save
Thirdly, you can accept the payment either as one payment with the same payment method, or you can make two payments if the customer paid the tip with cash or other payment methods separate from the service payment.
If you are integrated with one of ProPet’s integrated payment processors, you can have customers apply a tip online.
