What is Smart Feeding?

Smart feeding is a tool used to make adding feeding instructions easier as well as to track a pets feeding throughout the course of their stay!

How to Enable Smart Feeding

To enable smart feeding, follow these simple steps:

1. Settings
2. General Settings
   
3. Enable Smart Feeding (BETA) – Yes
   
4. Click Save

How to Setup the Smart Feeding Feature in Your ProPet Account

To set up your smart feeding questions, simply navigate to your Settings > General Settings > Forms > Booking Forms and follow these steps:

1.     Add Custom Field
   
   
2.     Add Form Field Question: Such as “Feeding Instructions”
   
3.     Select Smart Feeding
   
   

Now you can add all the structured feeding information to make adding detailed feeding instructions easy and efficient. 

1.     Time of Day Options – Add Option: Add all times of day that your facility offers feedings
   Example: AM, Noon, PM, Other
   
2.     Measure of Food Options – Add Option: Add all forms of measurement that your customers require to feed their pets
   Example: Cup(s), Scoop(s), Can(s), Tbsp, Patty, Prepackaged Bag, Other

3.     Food Types – Add Option: Add all food types that your facility allows for feeding
   Example: Kibble, Wet Food, Raw – Frozen, Raw – Thawed, Dehydrated, Other

4.     Feeding Status Options – Add Option: Add all the options for how much the pets have eaten for their meal
   Example: Ate All, Ate Some, Ate None, Regurgitated, Other

5.     Confirm whether the user’s response will be remembered on the next booking

6.     Save Form Field

To add this question to the booking forms for the various pets, simply click the checkbox under the applicable pet forms, the booking sheet and you can style the question as a “Required Field” or not.

How the Smart Feeding Report Works

The smart feeding report lets you easily generate a list of all feeding instructions per pet by time(s) of day. You can also add all the feeding status updates here, allowing you to easily track how the pets eat during their time with you.

To access all the feeding instructions for each pet in your facility, simply navigate to Reports > Day to Day > Smart Feeding > Select the date > Select time of day for feeding ( AM, AFTERNOON, PM)  > Generate Report.

Once you have generated the report, a list of all the pets that are scheduled to be fed at the time of day will pop up. 

From this page, you will be able to update any feeding status by clicking on the double arrows and selecting a status from the drop-down menu.

You can also add any notes by selecting the paper and pen icon – you can select whether the note is a normal or high priority. By selecting “normal” priority, the note will be treated as a typical note, but if “high priority” is selected, a red star will be placed beside the note so that you and your staff know that this note requires extra attention.

To view the feeding history, select “view all days”. This will generate the list of all the feedings throughout this pet’s stay, including the date, time of day, the amount and all the feeding status updates. You can also print the history right from this page.

Another way you can view the feeding list is by selecting the booking reservation under Order > Feeding.

By selecting edit in the feeding instructions, you will be able to change the feeding status, add any additional staff notes, staff initials and select the priority of the note.
