Changes to ProPet's SMS Integration with Twilio
ProPet Software has changed the way we integrate with Twilio for their text messaging services. Moving forward, each facility that uses ProPet and wishes to continue with the text messaging functionality will be required to create their own Twilio account and pay for the Twilio integration directly through them. Your new text message pricing will depend on Twilio’s pricing structure for your location.
Please visit Twillio’s Website for more details.
Please review the account changes and transitioning instructions below, that were included in the original email.
Getting Started
One important difference to note is that each facility’s phone number will be changed with this transition. When you create your own Twilio account, a new phone number will be assigned to you and that is the number your customers will receive their text messages from.
Aside from this phone number change, all text messaging functionality within ProPet will remain the same.
We have added an estimated segment counter to text message templates and text message reports so you can gauge how many individual text messages are being sent. This is an estimate because if you use the Variable Substitutes (such as Business Name, Customer Name, etc) in your text message template, they might cause your template to be longer than the expected number of segments (with a segment being one text message of 160 characters). You can also use the Text Message Log report to track the number of text messages you’re sending.
How to Transition
In order to transition to the new text message integration set up, you will have to go to www.twilio.com to create an account directly with them. During the set up of your account, a few questions will be asked:
Q: Which Twilio product are you here to use?
A: SMS
Q: What do you plan to build with Twilio?
A: this selection doesn’t matter
Q: How do you want to build with Twilio?
A: With no code at all.
Once you have done this, log in to your ProPet account, go to Settings > Integrations > Twilio (SMS). On this page there will be a red “Connect” button; click this and it will prompt you to log in to your Twilio account.
You will then select your account in Twilio and then be brought back to the ProPet Twilio settings page in your ProPet account. You must then click the “Save and Get Number” button to be assigned your new SMS number. Once this is done, your setup is complete and your text messages will now be sent from your new number and you will be able to continue using the text messaging feature as you did before.
Transition Deadline: January 31 2023
If you are on a monthly subscription, you will be required to complete this transition by January 31, 2023, as that is when the current text message set up will be deactivated. If you do not set it up by this date, you will no longer have access to the text messaging functionality.
If you are on an annual or biannual subscription, you will be required to complete the transition by your next payment date. This can be found by going to the Your Account tab (as the super user) and checking under Billing History.
Please feel free to contact us at support@propetware.com with any questions you might have. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t feasible for us to continue with the original set up and we hope you can understand why ProPet had to implement this change.
