How to Update Your Pricing
When it comes time to update your pricing, it can take time to figure out how you want to do it. Here are some tips on how this can be done in ProPet.
Your pricing can have many branches, so please contact our support to aid in the process and ensure everything is accounted for support@propetware.com.

There are 3 main ways to update pricing, each with its own pros and cons:
- Recreating your updated prices as new rates:
- All existing rates are duplicated OR new rates are added as needed (if you require a change in pricing structure)
- Date ranges are added within the rates (both old and new), so old rates are not available if the customer chooses a date range after the pricing change takes place and new rates are not visible if the customer chooses a date range before the pricing change takes place.
- Creating Premiums and changing rates on the eve of the official price change date
***This only applies to Daycare and Boarding pricing. Grooming/Training and Standalone would need option 1 or 3 as the cost of services is generated prior to the selected service date and, therefore, cannot trigger the premium in the invoice.
- Per-item premiums are added to the account as needed, representing the difference between the old and new prices. A date range rule is added to the premium. (e.g. if all boarding rates are going up by 2 dollars, only one premium needs to be added. If small pet rates are going up by $2 and large pet rates are going up by $4, two premiums need to be added).
- Close to the change date or same day, the premiums are de-activated and the prices within the rates are changed to the new price
- If needed, all pricing dates for existing future booking reservations can be updated on the day the premium is added and on the day the change is applied
- Changing the rates on the eve of the update:
- The prices of the rates are changed on the eve of the pricing change/ one or two days before the change occurs.
- If needed, all pricing dates for existing future booking reservations can be updated at once. Reach out to support to mass update your future invoices at support@propetware.com
- The prices of the rates are changed on the eve of the pricing change/ one or two days before the change occurs.
| Change Type | PROS | CONS |
| Adding New Rates | – You can mark and identify new pricing in your rate name.
– Works very well if you need changes in the Pricing Structure – Change can be done in one go |
-Boarding reservations that cross the date range where the change is to take place will have either the new or the old pricing.
– If you wish to charge the new price to all the existing future reservations, the rate change/pricing update needs to be done manually per invoice or combine this with option 3 prior to archiving the old pricing – All premiums and discounts need to be remapped to the new rates as needed |
| Creating Premiums and changing rates on the eve ***Daycare and Boarding Only |
– You can start charging the new price for future reservations before the change takes place
– The pricing date of all reservations can be updated at once -Premiums don’t need to be remapped |
-If the price of a premium or discount is also changing additional alterations are required
– The invoices will have a premium added onto them that may make the booking look more “busy” – Multi step and multi date change |
| Changing the rates on the eve of the change | -The change is straightforward and there is little room for error
-Change can be done in one go -Future reservations can be updated -Easy to honor past pricing for created bookings |
-Customers receive no “automatic” notice of the change in advance (perhaps consider customer alert messages as an alternative)
– If the change wasn’t properly prepared, details can be overlooked |
Some critical questions to ask when considering the best option to update your pricing:
- Will there be any exception to the price update such as VIP clients?
- Will you honour the price for customers that have already booked for dates after the price change takes place?
- Will I need to change my discount and premium pricing (if applicable)?
