Smart Medication

Welcome Smart Medication

You can now offer easy medication instructions for your customers to fill out based on your facility’s needs using our new customizable Smart Meds form. ProPet’s Smart Meds lets you specify how you want to receive the medication information for consistent and easy to understand entries, and helps you track each medication administration throughout the course of the pet’s stay!

Please view our videos about the set up, the customer experience and the admin functionality here, or continue reading for more information.

  • Additional notes
  • Medication status

How to Set Up Smart Medication

In your ProPet account Settings, we have added a new option under Forms called  “Smart Medication”. Once there, you will need to enable the Smart Medications form. Then, you can add some general instructions to let your customers know any specifics regarding the medication information that you need from them.

Required Fields:

For every Smart Meds entry a customer adds to a pet’s booking, they will be required to enter in the medication’s name, as well as, its purpose. This will help you to ensure that you will know what each medication that you will be administering is meant for.

Optional Fields:

The remaining fields are all optional but we recommend that you use them to make the most

of the Smart Meds feature. When you click the settings for each field, you can customize the experience for each one:

  • Enabled: to activate the question, those that do not have the enabled setting checked off will not show the field for staff or customers
  • Required for customer: to make the question required if they add a medication
  • Staff only: the question does not appear for the customer but will show for the admin
  • Required for staff: staff must fill in the question prior to confirming the reservation
  • Remember the customer’s response: automatically remember the customer’s response from one booking to the next

You would then create your custom options for each of the optional fields you would like to have included in your Smart Meds form. We have outlined those fields below and included some examples of options you might enter into your own account as a way to track medication with consistency and clarity.

Select schedule: the customer can select the administration schedule from the following options: every day, every second day, specific dates within the reservation duration, or “as needed”. If they choose every day or second day, they will also be asked to specify the start date. This is to accommodate administration that may have occurred at home prior to the pet’s arrival at your facility.

There will also be an optional question for “Additional Notes”

For those facilities who are converting from the previous medication structure to the smart medication feature, here are some tips to help with the transition.

Proper medication administration is critical. Therefore, it’s vital that you approach the transition to the new Smart Medication Feature with diligence and precision. Ensure that no medications are missed or double-dosed during the transition.
